If you’re a yoga enthusiast you’d definitely look at different varieties of yoga mats available in the market, won’t you? I do too but started to check them out very recently. In the market I found one kind of regular 4 mm yoga mats which are all similar. In few stores they cost around 300/- while in local markets they cost around 500/-. I bought my first mat for 500/- but I was disappointed at its quality. Practicing Ashtanga for a few days had changed its look. I saw pieces of it coming out from day 1. Later I got my third yoga mat, i.e., Motofly – Yogasutra 100% EVA Eco Friendly 4 mm Yoga Mat from flipkart. Actually the name doesn’t contain Yogasutra in the website but when I received it, the product has Yogasutra but Motofly was absent. So, I wonder if Motofly is selling Yogasutra brand.
Price: 249/- + Shipping (55/-) = 304/-
Motofly – Yogasutra 100% EVA Eco Friendly 4 mm Yoga Mat Review
The packing was good enough covered in a regular packing cover well wrapped as you can see in the image. I didn’t receive damaged product and hence, I feel the packaging is good enough.
The very first thing observe i the brand name. Like I said before, the website says, it’s Motofly while the label on the mat says it’s Yogasutra.
They also have 5 mm, 6 mm, 7mm and 8 mm mats.
This one was purple in colour while it’s mentioned as ‘blue’ in the website. However, the image shows purple coloured mat. The design however looks different. Upon opening it I was happy to find a strap along with it. It has elastic at the ends to hold the mat. I’ve started to train yoga at home recently and hence bought a mat to keep it as an additional in case any student doesn’t get her mat. So, I wanted something for less yet a quality one. After going through many, I finally ordered this one. Now, let’s come back to the review to check if it suits my need or not. The strap was black in colour and of low quality; so it can’t be used for yoga practice but can be used to carry the mat. That’s fine for me. I’ve my own strap for practice. The white one is my strap which I use for practice.
The mat upon opening smelled really strong which was big con. No one wants to smell that while practicing on it. I’ll try washing it few time and then check if it still smells or not and update this post. The colour was pretty good. Now, coming to the thickness which is an important part, it was only 3 mm while they said it’s 4 mm. This was disappointing. And the quality? I feel the quality is quite good. At least it won’t tear like the regular one available in the market. So, I feel if I can get rid of the strong smell it has by washing the mat few times, then it is a good option to choose. If you want a thick mat then this isn’t for you. You’ll have to put another mat over it. I’m planning on trying a jute or cotton mat next time. I may use that over this mat later. The other purple coloured mat below is the regular mat we find in the market. I’ve put this here for comparision of thickness and quality. This one is 6 mm thick.
Look at the thickness of the Motofly – Yogasutra 100% EVA Eco Friendly 4 mm Yoga Mat below and compare.
